RNDr. Jiří Černý, is the head of the e4 research group, focused on research of ecology, evolution, emergence and epidemiology of zoonotic pathogens at CINeZ, FTZ, CZU. He worked as postdoc at the School of Medicine, Yale University, research focused on interaction between ticks, borrelia spirochetes, and mammalian hosts (group leader: dr. Fikrig). From, 2016-2018 as postdoc at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, University of Sao Paulo, research focused on ecology and epidemiology of arboviruses (group leader: prof. Zanotto). From 2009-2016: PhD student at the Biology Centre, Czech Academy of Sciences and Faculty of Sciences, University of South Bohemia, research focused on molecular biology and evolution of flaviviruses (suppervisors prof. Grubhoffer and prof. Růžek). On 2013 research internship at the Institute of Biochemistry, University of Lubeck, research focused on structural biology of TBEV proteins (group leader: prof. Hilgenfeld).
